John is homeschooled. We call the homeschool - Nathan Hale Homeschool after his Grandfather and also the American Revolutionary War Patriot.
Extra-Curricular
Birding - John shares a North American Records for the most species seen in a 24 hour period green division. He and Ron Weeks rode bicycles 71 miles down the Texas coastline and saw 181 different species of birds in one day. He also has published 3 research articles in the Texas Ornithological Society biannual journal, first one published when he was 16 years old. John volunteers at the Texas A&M Ornithology Lab identifying birds and preserving specimens on a weekly basis.

Basketball Training
John has trained with Thomas Sanders who is a Professional in the European and Latin American Leagues.
He has played predominantly a man-to-man defense taught by Coach Andrew Storms and an extended match-up 2-3 zone. He is noted for being a scorer in offense. During the 2012-2013 season John made 203 free throws out of 270 attempts (75%). In the 2013-2014, under a new coach, John is playing considerably more minutes as a point guard and less as a shooting guard then in previous years.
